Limnodynastes dorsalis

The Banjo frog is distinguished by a bright red groin, grey-dark green back, with a thin pale yellow line running down the middle. The banjo frog also has a large gland present on the upper side of the calf. The Banjo frog breeds during the months of May to December. Adult banjo frogs are approximately 60-75mm in length and tadpoles can grow to be 80mm in length. Terrestrial or low flying insects and other invertebrates make up the diet of the Banjo frog. The call of the Banjo Frog resembles a ‘Bonk’.
